What do we do?
Using a recovery framework, the unit is a 23-bed facility located on the Sturt Street site of Grampians Health Ballarat and provides inpatient mental health services to people living in the Grampians Area Mental Health Region, for consumers aged between 18-64 years.

We provide short-term inpatient treatment and care during an acute phase of mental illness or until a person has recovered enough to be treated in the community.

This unit provides Inpatient assessment, treatment and care during an acute phase of mental illness.
How can you access this service?
All admissions to this unit occur following assessment by the Access and Triage or Community Mental Health team(s). All admissions are approved by a Consultant Psychiatrist.
Under Victorian Law, the Adult Acute Unit is a non-smoking environment. We will provide nicotine replacement therapies for in-patients.
