Grampians Health promotes research being part of all we do and creating an environment where research is embedded as a core component of delivery of our health service.

We are committed to developing a research culture, where research and innovation is recognised, valued and utilised; where our staff undertake high quality health service-relevant research and we maintain systems that support ethical research and innovation.

A foundational component of a productive research ecosystem is education and training. It supports ethical conduct, compliance, quality, safety collaboration and trust in the research that we undertake to help our communities. As part of our commitment to undertake high-quality, ethical and health-services relevant research we request that all staff undertaken human research undertake ICH Good Clinical Practice (ICH GCP) training.

There are additional mandatory research education requirements for those undertaking clinical trials at Grampians Health.

From 1 May 2024 staff involved in clinical trials must present certificates of completion for the following training courses.

Principal investigators Australian Clinical Trials Education Centre (A-CTEC) course Trials Essentials for Investigators (course completion certificate must be submitted with SSA)
Clinical trial team members (study coordinators, research support staff, trial pharmacists, etc.) Australian Clinical Trials Education Centre (A-CTEC) course Trial Essentials for Research Research Support Team

Clinical trials staff please note: completion of the A-CTEC course packages includes ICH GCP certification, so separate certification is not needed. However, ICH GCP certification must be renewed every three years (several providers of this training), while the A-CTEC package only needs to be completed once.
