Peter Stevens donates new vehicle to Grampians Health Ballarat Cancer Centre’s patient transport fleet

Peter Stevens, a well-known Ballarat businessman, and his family donated a new Hyundai Tucson to the Grampians Health Ballarat Cancer Centre on Wednesday 5 June 2024 at Peter Stevens Motorworld, furthering their commitment to easing the burden on cancer patients and their families during treatment.
Steven Medwell, Grampians Health Program Director of Cancer Services, expressed sincere gratitude for the ongoing generosity and support from the Stevens Family.
"We are incredibly grateful to the Stevens Family for another generous donation and their ongoing commitment to supporting cancer patients in the Ballarat region," said Mr Medwell.
"This new Hyundai Tucson will be a welcomed addition to our two transport vehicles ensuring that cancer patients can access essential treatment and support without added stress or financial burden."
The patient transport service provided by the Cancer Centre plays a crucial role in transporting eligible patients to and from the hospital for chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and other cancer treatments and appointments. The vehicles are all driven by a team of volunteer drivers.
Peter Stevens, former owner of Peter Stevens Motorworld, said he was keen to contribute to the Cancer Centre.
"We are incredibly proud of our contribution to Grampians Health cancer services and cancer patients. Transport can be a barrier for patients and families and this service may be the difference between patients receiving appropriate care in the right location at the right time. We are very fortunate to have a world class cancer centre here in Ballarat - and we are honoured to contribute to such an important service in our community - we know this service makes a difference,” said Mr Stevens.
"By providing reliable transportation for patients, we hope to alleviate some of the challenges they face during their cancer journey."
Ian Everett, Volunteer driver at Grampians Health Ballarat Cancer Centre, shares his appreciation for latest vehicle joining the fleet of patient transport vehicles.
“Continuous treatment is already a lot for cancer patients to cope with. Having reliable transport is a relief to our patients and a valued service,” said Mr Everett.
“I extend my heartfelt thanks to Peter Stevens and his family for their generous contribution. Your support means the world to us and the cancer patients we serve".
