Dry July raises over $38,000 for our BRICC Wellness Centre
The Dry July campaign has raised over $38,000 for our BRICC Wellness Centre through generous community donations, exceeding last year’s efforts by $10,000.
Dry July is the largest fundraising campaign for our Ballarat Regional Integrated Cancer Centre (BRICC) Wellness Centre, which is solely funded through community donations.
Manager of the BRICC Wellness Centre, Simone Noelker, was delighted with the result.
"A big thank you to everyone who supported the Dry July campaign for the BRICC Wellness Centre especially the DRY July heroes who took the challenge to give up alcohol for the month – an amazing fundraising effort!” Simone says. “Our work is made possible by your generous support as the money raised ensures that we can continue to offer the best supportive care programs to people living with cancer."
We would like to say a special thank you to one of our Dry July Ambassadors and BRICC patient, Kelli Aggett. Kelli and her team, Wellness Warriors, raised an incredible $14,699.80.
Another major fundraiser this year was Kate Davis, owner and director of Plate Up Ballarat and Eat Drink West. Kate explains why it was important for her to participate.
“Supporting the Dry July campaign for the BRICC Wellness Centre was very important to me because some of my dearest loved ones are going through a cancer journey at the moment,” Kate said. “The campaign also raises awareness for my friends, family and community about the amazing facility we have here in Ballarat.
“To have this level of support and care in our city is wonderful. When someone is going through a cancer journey it can feel like a rollercoaster, and you need to know there is support here in Ballarat. The care provided by the BRICC Wellness Centre is second to none.”
Kate would like to extend her best wishes to everyone in our community touched by cancer.
“I would like to send all my love to those closest to me and to anyone going through a cancer journey, whether it's the patient themselves, the carers, family, and friends. I want I to wrap my arms around all of you because I understand. “
The BRICC Wellness Centre provides a welcoming retreat for cancer patients, their families and their carers. It also provides a range of support and education services, all free of charge. The BRICC Wellness Centre can be used by all cancer patients in our region, regardless of where they are having treatment.
The Dry July campaign encourages everyone to take a month off alcohol and to raise money by asking family, friends and workmates to sponsor them.
